No entry in Dubai without return tickets

Dubai Government in its latest tourist guidelines announced that anyone without a confirmed return ticket won’t be allowed to enter the city. Because of this sudden update, hundreds of tourists were left stranded at Dubai international airport on Wednesday and Thursday. These passengers got into trouble because they were not carrying a return ticket, as per new entry requirements.

The circular that was issued on October 15 stated, "Passengers with visit and tourist visas arriving (in) Dubai without a return ticket will be not be permitted entry, and it is the sole responsibility of the airline to arrange and cover the cost of a ticket/ flight to return their passenger to the country of origin."
According to the circular, Dubai airport has asked the airlines to repatriate tourists arriving in the United Aarab Emirates without a confirmed return ticket.

Reportedly, Because of this announcement, more than 300 passengers, majorly from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan were stuck at the Dubai airport. Among this, 200 passengers were from India only. But later, diplomatic missions of India and Pakistan informed that passengers have now safely returned to their home countries.
Soon the consulates of the respective countries were notified of the status and stranded tourists were able to return. Neeraj Agarwal, Consul (Press, Information, and Culture) at the Consulate General of India in Dubai, informed the local press that nearly 140 to 150 passengers were sent back to India on Thursday while roughly 45 passengers were allowed to enter the country.

Further, Ahmed Amjad Ali, Consul-General of Pakistan in Dubai, said, "Around 169 people have been repatriated since yesterday. We are sending back people stranded at the airport as and when seats are available on the aircraft. This is an ongoing process."
