Delhi to Mumbai road trip will soon take only 11 hours. Know why!

Road trippers can soon travel from Delhi to Mumbai road trip at 120 kmph as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has formed a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) Company to provide funds for the construction and operation of the Delhi-Mumbai Greenfield Expressway.

According to the latest reports, Delhi-Mumbai Greenfield Expressway is expected to be completed by March 2024.
The expressway will be 1275 km long and have eight lanes with the capacity to be extended into 12-lanes in the future. Reportedly, it will be India's longest Greenfield Expressway having a design speed of 120 km/hour. The corridor will have closed tolling for full access-control.

News has it that the express falls under the scope of the about 28000 km Bharatmala Pariyojna Phase - 1 program. Under the program, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is one of the flagship highways corridors.
On both sides of the expressway, the authorities have also planned to make 75 wayside amenities at an interval of 50 km. The entire project costs INR 82514 crores including land acquisition cost of INR 20928 crore.

Currently, travellers ideally take the NH 48 for the Delhi to Mumbai 1400 km road trip. The route covers the states of Rajasthan and Gujarat, and finally the green state of Maharashtra.
