But the travellers still need to show their negative RT-PCR test report not older than 24 hours before entering France and also quarantine for 48 hours on arrival while another test is taken. Under new measures, the provision for self-isolation is also expected to be removed. However, the rules remain unchanged for those who are still not vaccinated.
French Prime Minister Jean Castex’s office released a statement stating that now the COVID-19’s Omicron variant is widely spread in both nations, therefore the travel curbs are no longer needed. The French tourism industry is looking for a boost. The pandemic has adversely affected the economy of the country and is one of the worst casualties of the pandemic.
As per the World Travel & Tourism Council, France is the biggest market for UK tourists. According to reports, the UK residents account for 14 percent of visits to the country and international tourists spend 60 billion euros ($68.8 billion) in a year in France but before the pandemic.
The news comes as a big sigh of relief for UK nationals who had planned holidays in France in the coming weeks. The European airlines and train companies are also quite happy with the decision.
Apparently, on December 18, 2021, France had put a ban on tourists with strict COVID-19 restrictions amid the Omicron scare.
