The semi high-speed train will run between CSMT and Madgaon. The route trials of the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express train have been conducted successfully, and the train made the one-way trip between the cities in a little more than seven hours.
Referring to this, a senior official added that their tentative plan is to have morning departure from CSMT around 6 AM, so that it reaches Madgaon in the afternoon. It will then resume its return journey the same day to CSMT, which is expected to reach close to midnight.
Currently, the train running on this route is the Tejas Express which takes almost 8 hours and 40 minutes to cover the 765 km distance between the two cities.
If this train gets launched on this route, it will be the fourth Vande Bharat operating from the financial capital of India, Mumbai. The three trains that are currently operating are between Mumbai Central – Ahmedabad – Gandhinagar Capital, Mumbai – Sainagar Shirdi, and Mumbai – Solapur Vande Bharat Express trains.
What makes these Vande Bharat Express trains special apart from the speed are their high-end safety features, including indigenously developed train collision avoidance system. The trains also come equipped with an intelligent braking system that enables better acceleration and deceleration and helps save travel time.
As per the records, these high-speed trains can operate at a maximum speed of 160 kmph, and feature reclining seats in all classes.
