Chennai airport now has a rapid RT PCR testing facility for passengers

The Chennai airport is the latest airport in India to set up a rapid RT-PCR testing lab. The lab will be of great help to passengers, as it will provide results in just 30 minutes. At a time when many are struggling to get their test results on time, this could be of great help.
The cost of this rapid test is a little steep at INR 4000. However, according to reports, the price could drop in the coming weeks.

According to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), this facility at the Chennai airport has been set up for passengers travelling to West Asia. This is because countries in that part of the world have made it compulsory for passengers to carry RT-PCR negative reports before boarding.
An official in the knowhow said that earlier only passengers were arriving from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait. But now there are a few outbound flights as well, such as four to five flights to Dubai everyday. The airport has been testing 200 to 250 passengers everyday, and airport authorities are hoping that the international passenger traffic increases as that will also increase the number of tests. However, the cost of hte test is certainly an issue for passengers.

The RT PCR test is currently the norm across the world. Alongside the vaccine certificate, the RT PCR negative test report are two of the most important documents to show in order to gain entry into a country.

If you want the result to come in 4 to 7 hours, then you will have to pay a fee of INR 900, and for the TrueNat test that will come within 2-4 hours, you have to pay INR 2500.
