Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the airport will be well-connected with the city via various modes of transportations including the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link and the metro. Here’s some important facts about the airport:
1) The airport is in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) at Ulwe in Navi Mumbai.
2) This world-class airport will be constructed in four phases where the first two phases will be completed by December 2024.
3) This environment-friendly airport will be laced with all the modern technology.
4) Electric vehicles, solar power and green electricity are other prime features of the airport.
5) Another best part of the airport is its spectacular lotus-shaped design, which is India’s national flower.
6) The airport is being constructed over 1160 acres, at a whopping cost of INR 16,700 crore!
7) By 2032, the airport will be able to handle 2.5 million tonnes of cargo.
8) Also this is the first time that a city will have two international airports.
