The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has advised against travel to Bangladesh due to increasing violence. As reported earlier, in light of the increasing violence in Bangladesh, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a stern advisory for Indian nationals to refrain from travelling to the country until further notice. This advisory follows a new surge of protests that have caused numerous casualties and widespread unrest.
Meanwhile, several airlines like IndiGo and Air India made the decision to cancel flights between India and Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, due to escalating unrest in the neighbouring country. IndiGo has announced the cancellation of its flight from Dhaka to India scheduled for Tuesday.

Air India has also suspended its flights to Dhaka ‘with immediate effect,’ citing the deteriorating situation in Bangladesh. In a statement on social media platform X, Air India expressed concern for passenger safety and stated, "In view of the emerging situation in Bangladesh, we have cancelled the scheduled operation of our flights to and from Dhaka with immediate effect. We are continuously monitoring the situation and are extending support to our passengers with confirmed bookings for travel to and from Dhaka with a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation charges. Safety of our guests and crew remains our foremost priority. For more information, please call our 24/7 Contact Centre at 011-69329333 / 011-69329999." Passengers are advised to contact Air India's 24/7 Contact Centre for further assistance.
The crisis in Bangladesh intensified significantly following the resignation and departure of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Amid violent protests, the 76-year-old leader was forced to flee the country.
The turmoil in Bangladesh has resulted in severe violence, with over 300 people reported dead in recent clashes. Protesters have stormed various locations, including Hasina's official residence, Ganabhaban, setting fire to several key sites in Dhaka. This escalating violence led to the prime minister’s resignation and the subsequent cancellation of international flights to Dhaka as safety concerns mounted.
