In response to the violence, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has pledged to apply the full force of the law against those targeting Muslim communities. "Whatever the apparent motivation, this is not protest; it is pure violence and we will not tolerate attacks on mosques or our Muslim communities," Starmer stated on Monday. He assured that legal consequences would follow for those involved in the violence.
UK Interior Minister Yvette Cooper condemned the violence, calling it an overreaction to immigration concerns that has fueled racial hatred. She criticised the attacks on police and described the riots as unjustified. The protests, involving a few hundred people, have resulted in looting, attacks on mosques, violence against ethnic minorities, and the destruction of property. Social media footage has captured some of these violent incidents.

If reports are to go by, since the beginning of the unrest, UK police have arrested 378 individuals. The riots, described as the worst since 2010, have spread to major cities such as Liverpool, Manchester, and Leeds. The violence has been exacerbated by misinformation and actions of far-right agitators, who have manipulated the situation to incite further discord.
