If there is one Japanese chain restaurant that people have heard of before visiting, it is Yoshinoya. Famous through Asia for their beef bowl, Yoshinoya has over 1,000 locations in nearly a dozen countries, including the United States. Plus, it could very well be the only fast food chain in the world that has been serving food since the 1800s. Can you think of another?

Yoshinoya’s best seller are their beer bowls and pork bowls, which come in several varieties but essentially are exactly like what the name implies—meat in a bowl with toppings. Surprisingly delicious though and super affordable, which is probably why they have been in business for so long. Other options include miso soup, rice and various other sides, all of which can either be ordered separate or as part of a meal.

Recommended dish: Cannot beat a classic; get the beef bowl with green onions and raw egg. Mmmmm!
