However Derek"s specialty is in unique and offbeat travel guides -- not just for Asia but countries across the globe -- and in producing travel videos. Japan is an electronic nation but nowhere is more loving of electronics than Akihabara. From retro arcade games and machines to the most modern platforms, Akihabara is a must for all gamers and electronics fans.

Countless electronics shops line the streets and alleys of Akihabara, from small independent shop to massive chains and specialty electronics retailers. Some shops specialize in only one item but others cover everything from computers to video games to cameras. Recently the neighborhood has also become home to a growing collection of manga stores and otaku shops selling collectible action figures, comics and cards. It is easy to spend a few hours wandering up and down the blocks, in and out of shops.
