People talk about 'getting away from it all' and about 'retreating at a retreat', but at their most pure these phrases mean not being around other people, the efforts cities entail and anything that is potentially stress inducing. So it follows that the best way to 'get away from it all and retreat' is to go somewhere really remote. How about the Himalayas? Somewhere high up in the Trans Himalayan Range near the border of Tibet? Up there there's no traffic to fill the air with noise and filth, and no people to get on your last nerve. Read less

But us modern folks have also grown used to the idea of a little pampering coming with our retreating, so we're inclined to favour destinations with spa facilities, some kind of massage option or maybe a hot mud soak or something?
