Victoria, the capital of Seychelles bursts into colour as we wander through souvenir shops, markets and streets. The main city centre is just a ten minute walk as you see the replica of the Big Ben, a miniature actually – the Clock Tower. One of the must visits here is the Sir Selwyn Selwin Clarke Market. The ethnicity of the island is reflected in the capital city through its monuments and museums. Most of them shut early, so ensure that you visit the National History Museum at the earliest. You can pick up some corals at the local jewellery store or at Kenwyn House which also has brands that sell bead jewellery from the palm trees that grow on the island. And before you leave the city, visit the Navashakti Vinayakar temple built by the Tamil community here.
