It is one of the only open air markets left in the centre of Rome, and although it is a far cry from what it used to be, a market that was crowded and chaotic overflowing with fresh fruits, vegetables, cheese and meats, this is still a market that deserves its place as some of the best shopping in Rome. It is one of the only open air markets left in the centre of Rome, and although it is a far cry from what it used to be, a market that was crowded and chaotic overflowing with fresh fruits, vegetables, cheese and meats, this is still a market that deserves its place as some of the best shopping in Rome. Although there are a few more tourist stands, selling souvenirs and other things such as spices, those original family run stands can still be found if you look hard. Find Claudio’s stand, which has been around since 1929, and offers amazing prewashed veggies along with porcini mushrooms and other Rome specialities. To go along with your vegetables, you will need to wander over to the cinema where outside Giorgio sets up his small cart offering salamis and cheeses that will simply delight your taste buds.
