Lucknow’s Residency (also known as British Residency) offers intriguing glimpses of the city’s past during the colonial period. Originally built as the the residence of the British Resident General in the 19th century, the Residency witnessed dramatic battles during the Revolt of 1857,such as the Siege of Lucknow. The walls of this fascinating historical landmark are still scarred with bullet marks and cannon shots. The main building houses a well-designed museum that displays models of the original buildings of the complex.
