Lace up your skates and head to the longest natural frozen skating trail in the world, verified by the Guinness Book of World Records. The trail starts in the centre of town and is a yearly tradition among locals and visitors to the city. The trail has been maintained for the past twenty years and really gives you another way to view the city. Running nine kilometres long, there are plenty of pit stops for those whose legs just can’t make it the whole way including benches, warming shelters and cabins. Also found along the trail are a slew of activities including ice sculpting and ice painting. If you don’t want to skate, no need to worry as people are also encouraged to walk, run and sled their way along. Make sure to check weather conditions before you head out to the trail as if there is a big snowfall, the ice will be cleared by machines before skaters are let on. With pop up food vendors along the way, plenty of options to warm up and completely free to use, this is one winter activity that should not be missed.
