If you have never ventured out onto a frozen lake, popped into a shed that overlooks a hole, and sat for hours on end with your line in the hole, hoping to catch a fish, then you are in for a treat. Ice fishing is a popular sport in all winter communities and Edmonton is no exception, although you will have to venture a little outside the city to experience this truly Canadian winter activity. It is recommended to hook up with an adventure company that will supply you with everything you need to make your ice fishing experience all the more enjoyable. The Great Canadian Adventure Company is one of the companies most recommended. Groups range from 2-10 people, and you will embark on a whole day tour visiting the lakes which are 2-3 hours away. All gear is provided, along with transportation and sometimes meals. The use of underwater cameras has made this experience even more enjoyable, as you can now watch the fish before they bite down on your hook. Bundle up, hit the ice, and go catch some pike, walleye, perch and more!
