Another relatively new kid on the block is Thapae East - Venue for the Creative Arts. Just a short walk from Lyla Gallery, Thapae East is one of the city’s most memorable arts spaces. Its main draw is its size: the building boasts a large, central open area that’s prime for dancing, mingling, or performing. Meanwhile, walls surrounding this middle area acts as a display area for either framed art pieces or free-standing, large-scale sculptures; and the original structure’s red beams have been left intact, giving the space a cool industrial feel.
Thapae East can accommodate more people than almost any other gallery here, making it a great venue to organise openings. With adequate room for DJs and a proper sound system, the large outdoor area is perfect for parties. It’s no wonder that Thapae East is becoming known for its wide array of events—art exhibitions, live music, drama performances, workshops, and more. Better yet? They’re across the street from the best pizza in town (Street Pizza)! There is so much potential in this space; it’ll be exciting to see how it grows. It’s a great place to meet other art enthusiasts, be sure to check out their Facebook page for current events.
