Tehri Lake will be developed as a global tourist destination

Tehri Lake, one of the most beautiful water bodies in Uttarakhand, will soon be developed into a world-class tourist attraction for sports enthusiasts. The plans to convert this gorgeous place into a water-activity zone were discussed in a meeting, which was attended by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, Utpal Kumar Singh.
Spread across an area of 42 km, the lake lacks better road connectivity and ring road. Because of this, the region has no infrastructure, facilities for tourists or any other requirements. All these important factors were discussed in the meeting.

A senior tourism official present in the meeting said that the presence of a ring road will be helpful for lakhs of people living in the region. Hari Om Sharma, PWD chief engineer informed that the total length of the ring road is 234 km; out of this, 142 km road is single lane and 20 km is being developed under Char Dham all-weather road project.
Under the proposed project, there will be four bridges that will be constructed on the road that will require INR 680 crores. As per reports, the first phase of the road development will require INR 8.81 crore; the amount will reach INR 326 crore in the second phase and INR 334 in the third and the final phase. The chief secretary has asked the officials to start land acquisition and other required processes as soon as possible.
