Chowk

Chowk is a popular market in central Lucknow, located about three km from Bara Imambara. One of the oldest markets in the city, it comprises of inter-connected narrow streets, with small shops selling chikan garments, ittar and ornaments. The market still maintains its old charm and is best for buying chikankari cloths and antique items. You can shop for quality chikan embroidered materials as it is the hub of chikan garment manufacturers. Besides this, the market has also risen to prominence as a centre of handicrafts. You can shop for beautifully-carved ivory items having flowers, leaves and birds motifs. Master craftsmen create intricate items, such as lampshades, knives and toys that look marvellous. Other local specialities include ittar made with flowers, zardozi embroidered garments and handmade nagra footwear.
