Skiing in Manali is now possible without natural snow

The country’s first artificial snow park has been set up in Solang Valley in a bid to promote tourism in the region. If you have always wanted to ski and thought heavy snowfall is necessary, it is time to set your records straight.
Readers must be wondering as to how this will be made possible. Ever heard of snow gun? Well, a newly-imported snow gun has been procured at a cost of INR 60 lakh, and it has been used recently to create snow in the Solang region for skiing.

This move is a brainchild of international skier Roshan Lal Thakur; he has long been associated with the Winter Games Federation of India, and set up private land to provide this opportunity to thrill enthusiasts. Referring to this development, he said that by using 60000 to 70000 li of water, 1 ft of snow was frozen, spread over a 100 m radius.
As per the latest news reports, the artificial snow park has created quite some hype among the adventure seekers, and is expected to boost adventure-related tourism in the Kullu and Manali region. Not just skiing, visitors will also be able to indulge in activities, such as sledging at the snow park, where the entry fee is INR 500 per person.
As per the experts, Manali skiing industry will likely collapse in the near future as winters are becoming rather mild with little or no snowfall. In such a scenario, setting up an artificial snow park is looked upon as a precious opportunity, opening up new avenues for people.
