Now it’s time to embark on a relatively mild but equally fascinating adventure trip—a jet ride over the Shotover River. Make your reservations at Queenstown and begin with the bus ride to the Shotover River. The journey in itself is captivating, with a steep ascent over narrow roads and with a view of the beautiful mountain range. You will pass the Coronet Peak, which becomes a ski park in winters and offers great views of the lake and the mountains in summers.
The jet passes at exceedingly high speed through gorgeous narrow canyons, and it seems that the river path is tailor-made for it, just wide enough to let the jet pass hurriedly with rising mountain boulders on either side. Thereafter, the skilful ‘crazy’ driver takes you to wider areas and spins the jet 360 degrees. This thrill, this rush, this magic, all set up in the shadows of dramatic canyons on the gorgeous Shotover River, only leaves you asking for more, which the driver happily obliges and takes you for a few more spins. Now, you will be fully drenched, so relax with a nice long soak in the sun, admire the beauty of the blue pristine water and the surrounding mountains, and get set for the return trip.
