Shatabdi train between Lucknow and Varanasi to run on special demand

The capital of Uttar Pradesh and the spiritual capital of India will now get Shatabdi trains between Lucknow and Varanasi in order to provide easy travel to daily passengers between these two cities.
Reportedly, planning has already begun on the proposal put forth by the Board's former Vigilance Director and BJP MLA Devmani. If the word of the officials is anything to go by, the proposal may get approved very soon.

At this time, the work of doubling and electrification between Wetheria-Sultanpur-Varanasi railway has already been done, whereas this task on the the Utrahtia- Sultanpur-Varanasi rail route has just begun. There is a proposal to increase the frequency of trains and speed on these routes.


In the same way, the railway authorities are mulling over running Shatabdi train through Sultanpur till Varanasi. The train will start from Lucknow at 6:00 PM and reach Varanasi at 10:00 PM. From Varanasi, the train will leave at 6:00 AM and arrive at Lucknow at 10:00 AM.

BJP legislator Devamani told the press that the Varuna Express has been extended till Kanpur. Due to these changes, the passengers travelling to and fro Varanasi are grappling with timing issues.

In such a scenario, the demand for introducing Shatabdi Express on Lucknow-Varanasi rail route has increased. Once executed, this plan will provide relief to the people residing in the constituency of both PM Narendra Modi (Varanasi) and Home Minister Rajnath Singh (Lucknow). And, of course, it would also help in boosting UP tourism.
