One of the sectors of Indian Railways that has benefited significantly from the Rail Budget 2018 is Maharashtra. One of the sectors of Indian Railways that has benefited significantly from the Rail Budget 2018 is Maharashtra. Among the major projects announced is a doubling project of the Indian Railways, which according to the Ministry of Railways will cost INR 1,860 crore, and will be aimed at developing the state’s overall railway network. Apart from this, the Maharashtra rail budget also has in its loop the plan to develop the Igatpuri-Manmad third line, which covers a distance of 124 km.

Apart from what has been planned in the Union Budget 2018, the ongoing projects in Maharashtra’s railway network include 36 projects at an estimated cost of Rs 59,624 crore, which together cover a total distance of 5,976 km.
