Located at Goa-Karnataka border, it’s one of the tallest waterfalls in India. The area is beautifully surrounded by a green cover of deciduous forests with a rich biodiversity. In short this place will send you into some kind of trance that you will rarely experience anywhere else.
However, skip visiting this place during the dry season, but during the monsoon season, when it’s fed by rains, it turns into a sight to behold. It’s a four step fall, and one needs to trek to be able to witness its beauty up close.
Be aware that this is not your usual tourist destination, where you can easily get on a vehicle, and then disembark at your destination to enjoy a good view.
So how to get there? Well, there is no direct way to reach Dudhsagar. You can opt to take a train to Londa junction, from where you will need a local bus, or taxi, or train to Kulem. This journey will roughly take around 3 hours. And from here, your trek will be of around 12 km to reach the waterfalls.
Trek from Kulem station will be around 12 km, and will take you through winding railway tracks, dark tunnels, and also walking into small waterfalls. This is indeed a beautiful trek, with hills on all sides, and will take around 4-5 hours to reach your destination.
And if you are lucky and time it well, you will also get to see a train passing on the railway bridge underneath the waterfall, which will be a sight to behold for sure.
