The details regarding this e-visa scheme was conveyed after Union Home Minister Rajnath Sigh chaired a high-level meeting where he reviewed the scheme and also took into account the various aspects of the Foreign Contribution Regulations Act (FCRA). The other members present in the meeting were Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, senior officers from the Home Ministry, and Ministry of External Affairs.
Singh said that the Home Ministry have implemented the e-Visa and FCRA schemes to make sure efficient services are being provided to the foreign and Indian nationals. Steps were also taken to ensure transparency in the whole process.

The Home Ministry further updated that the integrated online visa system under the Immigration, VISA, Foreigners’ Registration and Tracking (IVFRT) project has been operational in 163 out of 178 Indian Missions abroad. The ministry also added that the biometric enrolment has also been in place in 115 India missions.
“This system facilitates easy sharing and monitoring of visa data on real time basis across various immigration offices. A scheme to provide various visa services online to foreign nationals is also under implementation," the ministry said.
The facility, however, is now available for nationals of 163 countries for entry into India through 5 seaports, and 25 international airports in the country.
