Focusing on everything from astronomy to art, and from ancient history to political history, these are among the best galleries and museums in Mumbai. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya is the city’s largest and most grand museum, and houses three floors of Indian paintings, sculptures and artefacts. Located in MK Gandhi’s former residence, Mani Bhavan offers interesting insights into the Indian leader’s life and political journey, while the Nehru Planetarium is the best place to get schooled in astronomy. The city also has an active visual arts scene, which is most evident in Colaba galleries such as Jehangir Art Gallery and Chatterjee & Lal.
