Jewellery has been a constant element of human history. Even though the designs, shapes and sizes of the ornaments have evolved in tandem with the development of mankind over the years, jewellery still holds the same kind of importance even to this day. And there’s no doubt in the fact that a glimpse of age-old jewellery is liked by most. Among other things, it makes us realise how we have evolved over the centuries. Athens’ lias Lalaounis Jewellery Museum is a perfect place for travellers to get a taste of this. The jewellery and decorative arts displayed here are inspired by the various periods in Greek history, and are done by lias Lalaounis, a famous jeweller in Greece. One of the most interesting things about this museum is the part where they demonstrate jewellery-making techniques from prehistoric times. The permanent collection of this museum essentially includes more than 4,000 pieces of jewellery and intricate microsculptures that have been designed by Lalaounis over the years since the 1940s. Temporary exhibitions and cultural programs dedicated to the art of jewellery are also held in this museum.
