In a bid to promote the Kala Ghoda festival 2017, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) together will be introducing the Kala Ghoda open art gallery. The idea behind this concept is to inspire more and more young talents and artists to perform and participate where they can display their talented side. November 19, 2017 is the proposed date for the gallery’s inauguration. And then every Sunday, visitors can come and explore the vivid side of Maharashtra at this art gallery in Mumbai.

Nitin Gadre, the principal secretary of Maharashtra tourism and culture, in a meeting was quoted saying, “The aim of this initiative is to encourage our state’s art and culture through shows and acts. The performers will get a stage to showcase their art forms and talents. We are optimistic toward making the Kala Ghoda open art gallery as trendy as Mumbai’s ‘Times Square’. The goal of the initiative will enable artists to rent a 15×15 feet boxes at a nominal fee which will be open to people across the state to boost tourism.”

This initiative was actually started in 2016 by BMC. But now that MTDC is also involved, people are hoping that this will catch more eyeballs and will experience participation in good number. They have also involved the Mumbai Darshan Bus in this initiative. The bus will provide tour service to the Kala Godha Art Gallery to the interested travellers where they can get a glimpse of Mumbai streets.
