With tourists travelling far and wide in order to explore all kinds of destinations, homestays are becoming more of a preferred accommodation option. Keeping this trend in view, the Ministry of Tourism has decided to increase the number of such accommodation options and thus provide travellers with clean and affordable homestays in most tourist destinations across the country, announced Tourism Minister K.J. Alphons.
The above mentioned objective of the tourism ministry falls under the project named Incredible India Bed & Breakfast/Homestay Establishments. Although the project aims to provide accommodation to both foreign and domestic tourists alike, the focus is on offering foreign tourists an authentic experience of the Indian culture and cuisine by allowing them to enjoy a stay with an Indian family as a guest.

In order to make this a bigger trend in the country, the Ministry of Tourism has been conducting sensitisation workshops for promoting this particular project through its domestic offices. These workshops intend to create awareness on the need and rationale behind the establishment of homestays for accommodating tourists visiting the country.
While homestays have already been on the rise in different parts of the country, this scheme will ensure that the number of such establishments see a steadier increase in the near future.
