Ministry of Tourism aims for tourism development in tribal circuits

The Ministry of Tourism has just sanctioned the development of four sets of destinations under the tribal circuit. The three states identified for undertaking the said tourism projects are Nagaland, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.

The tourism development of the tribal circuit falls under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme of the Ministry of Tourism, which aims to develop tourism infrastructure in the country in a planned and prioritised manner, that too based on the principles of high tourist value, competitiveness, sustainability, enriching tourist experience and creation of livelihood opportunities at the local level.

When it comes to Nagaland, the tribal circuit destinations identified for the development project include the Pehen-Kohima-Wokha circuit and the Mokokchung-Tuensang-Mon circuit. The cost involved in the development of these two circuits are INR 97.36 crore and INR 99.67 crore respectively.
The tribal circuit identified in the state of Chhattisgarh is Jashpur-Kunkuri-Mainpat-Ambikapur-Maheshpur-Ratanpur-Kurdar-Sarodadadar-Gangrel-Kondagaon-Nathyanawagaon-Jagdalpur-Chitrakoot-Tirthgarh. The cost incurred in this state’s tribal circuit development is INR 99.94 crore.


The tribal circuit identified for development in Telangana is Mulugu-Laknavaram-Medavaram-Tadvai-Damaravi-Mallur-Bogatha Waterfalls. The cost incurred for this project is INR 84.4 crore.

The development of the said tribal circuits will increase the number of tourist destinations in the country to a great extent, thus, giving keen travellers an opportunity to explore places far and wide in different parts of the country.
