Merlion Park

This half-fish half-lion statue called the Merlion is to Singapore what Eiffel Tower is to Paris. Merlion is iconic and has been the country’s trademarked symbol since 1966. Combining ‘mer’ which means the sea and ‘lion’ in its name, this landmark sculpture was designed by Alec Fraser-Brunner (a renowned British ichthyologist) and stands tall at a prominent seaside location in Singapore’s Central Business District. If you’re visiting Singapore, you must pose in front of this 8.6 m-high and 70-tonne-heavy statue, while you gaze at the sea view from the landmark. Set against the backdrop of Singapore’s skyscrapers, and surrounded by a surfeit of restaurants and cafes, Merlion is a great spot to spend a relaxed evening stretching into the late hours of the night.
