Similar to Liberty Bell, Love Park and its statue stand as a random iconic image of the city of Philadelphia and a great excuse to sell keychains. Meanwhile, Wissahickon Park is virtually unknown to outsiders, and yet it is Philadelphia’s greatest gem. A part of Fairmount Park, one of the largest urban parks in America, Wissahickon is a protected section of the forest in the city itself. It was preserved much due to the efforts of Quakers, a Christian sect that considers nature as necessary for spiritual contemplation. Go hiking on the many winding, wooded paths to get some peace and solitude or stroll along the banks of the shining waters of the Wissahickon Creek where you can watch blue herons feed in the shallow pools. It’s a great place to bike if you can get your hands on some. There’s a path, which goes along the Schuylkill River (pronounced skoo¬kill) that takes you to downtown Philadelphia and provides many scenic views of the city. Moreover, you can relax in a place that feels apart from the city altogether, and enjoy some peace outside of urban life.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
