Popular among both the locals and travellers from all parts, the Kodaikanal Solar Observatory is located on the southern tip of the Palani Hills, at a distance of about four kilometres from the Kodaikanal town, in Dindigul district. Owned and operated by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, the observatory is known to have two scientists, 19 technicians and high-end equipments such as Doppler radar, a LaCour magnetometer and a Watson magnetometer, broadband seismograph, GPS receiver and magnetic variometers, ionosondes, Solar tunnel telescope and full disc imaging.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
