Sofia Zoo

If you’re travelling with young kids, then make sure you pay a visit to Sofia Zoo, which is famous for being the oldest and largest zoo in the Balkans. Here you will see everything from lions and elephants to tigers and monkeys. Kids also love getting to know pheasants, deer and black bears at the zoo. But that’s not all. At Sofia Zoo, it is possible for guests to feed a few animals including geese, goats, ponies and even rabbits. This often thrills the young ones beyond measure. Sofia Zoo also has a lot to offer to bird-watching enthusiasts as there are dozens of different species in the section dedicated to birds.
When your family is tired, take a break and grab a bite at one of the restaurants inside the premises. There are beers and nibbles for the grown ups and candy floss, ice-creams and chocolates for the kids. It’s hard not to love the relaxed vibe of Sofia Zoo. The zoo is close to the city centre and the best part is that entrance for kids below 3 is free. Adults visiting the zoo have to pay 4 Lev (~2 Euros).
