The Hankyu Department Store is an emblematic structure inside the humongous Umeda Station and is synonymous with luxury shopping in Osaka. Founded in 1929, this mall underwent some major restoration for as long as seven years, only to reopen in 2012. With a massive cosmetics section, and an elaborate food court serving everything from Japanese and Chinese to Western Cuisine, this place is a force to be reckoned with. Easily the largest retail establishment in Japan, extending up to around 90,000 sq m, Hankyu is a great place to splurge on international boutiques and take home pretty souvenirs that will constantly remind you of the island nation. With as many as 13 floors, almost every classic label known to mankind can be found at Hankyu, right from Fendi to Dior, and Moschino to Prada. The presence of tax-free products and discount coupons along with free WiFi is a massive plus for tourists, and the concierge staff here can speak decent English to help guide you around.

The Hankyu Department Store is open from 10 in the morning, until 8 in the evening, from Sundays to Thursdays. Moreover, it is open till 9 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The store is some 350 m from the JR Osaka Station, and is walking distance from the Umeda Underground Shopping Arcade, and the HEP Five.
