A very old market area of Amritsar, Guru Bazaar is an integral part of the city’s shopping culture and consumer habits. No one really knows since when this market is in existence and this gives it a heritage value. The lane that houses this market is in between Guru Ka Mahal and Golden Temple. There are numerous shops in the market that attract both locals and travellers. This place is particularly known for traditional jewelry and ornaments made out of precious and semi-precious stones. Apart from jewelry, you will find vendors selling beautiful silver diyas, earthen lamps, idols of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi. Chess pieces made from ivory and sandalwood are also a major takeaway from this place.
