Madison Square Park

Madison Square Park isn't one of the main reasons anyone visits New York, but if you're going to be there you should add it to your list of places to flying visit at least. And that shouldn't be too hard – Madison Square is formed by the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Broadway – so you shouldn't have any trouble dropping by.
The park is nice in all seasons, even winter, when the snow makes it quiet and beautiful – really still. It's ornamented by several statues to famous folks, among them Chester Alan Arthur, the twenty first President of the United States and Secretary of State William H. Seward – who purchased Alaska from the Russians. But most people will be more familiar with the park from vision of the annual turning on of the Christmas tree lights – Madison Square Park has the first public Christmas tree.
