The news might be sad but it’s true! Goa government is planning to ban drinking at public places for the safety and sanity of the city and people. In a function held in Goa, the state Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said, “We need to come out with the notification banning drinking of liquor in public places. The notification will be issued by October end for which we will amend the existing law.”

The state government has already banned/prohibited consumption of alcoholic drink at certain public places, which include beaches as well. As per officials, it is a serious issue as people drink and break liquor bottles on the roads, create nuisance and disturb the residents. Making a few hard decisions, Parrikar said, "If someone wants to drink (liquor), they should drink inside and not in public places... Liquor shops will face music if people are found drinking in open spaces near the shop."

Apart from liquor, the state government will also keep an eye on people riding two-wheelers without wearing helmets. Now police will penalise those riders driving on the roads without helmets and also tell them the pros of wearing helmets!
