From 2021, Americans will need to apply for a visa to enter Europe, know all about ETIAS

Travelling to Europe might just become tougher for Americans now! In the coming two years, Americans won’t be allowed to enter Europe without a visa. They will now have to apply for ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) before planning their European trip. As per the European Commission, the new system will be effective from Jan 1, 2021.
What is ETIAS?

So apparently, the ETIAS Visa will only apply to 22 countries that fall under Schengen Zone. This means Americans who want to travel to Germany, France, and Italy will also have to apply for visa. But if you are travelling to the United Kingdom, this visa won’t be required.

The validity of ETIAS Visa will be of 3 years and ti will be valid for multiple entries. To apply, the person must have to be a valid US citizen, have a valid passport, email address and credit/debit card. If they have all the valid documents, applicants then will have to fill out an online form on the official ETIAS website.
Contact details, passport information and a few basic security questions would be asked in the form. In case the application is denied, applicants will get a chance to question the decision.

Back in 2017, the European Union considered whether or not to the pass the new laws,and then decided to pass the visa rule for Americans wherein they will have to apply for visa.

As per the current rules, Americans visiting Europe for less than 90 days do not require any visa.
