If you want to catch a free flick, then head to Deerfoot Mall in the summer for the ‘Deerfoot Mall Drive-in Series’. The gates open at 5 pm and there is plenty of entertainment for the whole family, including bouncy castles, activities, games and more. Admission is free, although donations are accepted at the door. It is the only place in Calgary where one can actually watch a movie in a ‘drive-in theatre’, since the closing of the last one in 1999. The parking lot gets converted into a movie theatre and the actual movies start at 9:30 pm. Movies are family friendly and it’s better loading a few sleeping bags and pillows as well as snacks and drinks in the car and taking out the entire family for this awesome experience. Don’t forget to get back into your car at showtime, tune into the radio and enjoy your movie!
