Talk of the town: Sitges is a popular gay resort town, with a number of gay nudist beaches.
Always lively, the town really kicks off in February with its annual Carnival (Carnestoltes), which sees 40 floats and more than 2,000 participants take over the streets. It is also home to the house/studio of famous Catalan painter Santiago Rusiñol, which displays works by the artist as well as Picasso, El Greco and Zuloaga.
Trains depart regularly from Barcelona and take about 30 minutes.
