The culinary courses offered by Dar Liqama are more like luxury holidays with excursions and pampering, plus a bit of cooking on the side. Don’t be fooled though, the lessons will help you overcome the mysteries of fragrant Moroccan food and help you decipher which spices complement each other, show you how to whip up a lemon couscous in minutes and create a mouth-watering tagine to please any dinner guests. Dar Liqama is a real Moroccan palace with gorgeous traditional architecture; wide terraces for lounging around and sipping mint tea and huge suites with limestone walls and rustic fireplaces. When you’re not cooking, you can hang-out by the pool, get steamy in the hammam or if you don’t want to brave it yourself, the staff will take you along to visit the souks of Marrakech and act as guide and translator so you don’t get lost in the winding passage ways of the tightly packed spicily scented market stalls. There are also day trips to the local Atlas Mountains and camel rides designed to nicely slot in between the main focus of the trip, which of course is the meal.
