Soon travelling and living on Mars will be possible. To make the planet habitable for humans, Czech scientists are busy growing mustard plants. The scientists are doing their experiments in a lab which is perfect for growing food in extreme conditions (trying to match the climate of Mars).
According to the chief scientist, they are experimenting by changing light and temperature in order to achieve desired results. With the experiment, the team has successfully managed to grow not only mustard plants but also salad leaves, radishes, basil and mint leaves too, which is commendable.
In this method, the thing is that the growing crops doesn’t require much water and it uses 95 percent less water when compared to any normal technique of cultivation. This method is also space saving.
Though there’s still a lot to do and a long way to go, the step is laudable as it gives hope of a new home. Next crop in plan are strawberries.
