This remote region of rock-strewn mountains, unknown gorges, colourful, traditional Berber villages and fortifications and palm lined desert oases makes a great setting for cycling. There are a mix of on and off road routes through the Anti Atlas with the option to base yourself in once place (Tiznet for example) and ride out from their daily or ride though. With rides along the bottom of sheer canyons, up and down high mountains, visits to spectacular waterfalls and traditional communities and their date plantations and long-established ways of life to experience you can easily fill a week or two.
The cooler months are the best for cycling in Morocco, with sunny days and cooler nights keeping the mountain air fresh and comfortable to riding. Though there are many routes it can be difficult to plan your trip in this region so you may want to opt for a guided service which will also carry your luggage and arrange local experiences such as a visit to traditional Berber house where you can try one of their specialty teas and hospitality.
