Bengaluru airport lounges to remain temporarily closed starting June 1

In a bid to ‘enhance the on-ground travel experience’, the Bengaluru airport authorities have decided to renovate all its four lounges (two at International Security Hold Area and two at Domestic). Both the AGL (above-ground level) and Plaza premium lounges will remain closed temporarily from June 1, 2019, to April 30, 2020 (next year).
According to the airport authorities, work will be completed in two phases spanning 18-20 months. Informing more about the project, Kenneth R, Chief Commercial Officer, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) mentioned that their vision is to improve the lounge facilities to enhance the on-ground travel experience. Stressing more on the importance of the project, he said that the lounges at the BLR Airport are a destination in themselves and “the new lounge concept is aimed at providing the ultimate hospitality experience, innovation and perfect customer service.”

All the work regarding conceptualisation, design and development of the new Bangalore airport lounges is being done by BIAL only. The new lounges are supposed to be luxurious and elevate experiences for the flyer by optimising space utilisation. Once renovations are done, the lounges promise to offer passengers a memorable experience.
The lounges will be replete with amenities such as live cooking, spa, library, celebrity chef-curated menus, barista bar and a wine cellar, to mention a few.
