Capitoline Hill

One of the best ways to see the glory of Rome

Noteworthy for: Capitoline Hill, situated between the Forum and Campus Martius is the highest of the seven hills of Rome.
Once the all powerful religious and political hub of the Roman Empire, Capitoline has lured many a traveller to stretch their legs for the views it affords over this inspiring and vibrant city.

At one time during its history, the Temple of Jupiter crowned the summit, a symbol of the eternal power of Rome. One of the other principle reasons to put Capitoline Hill on your travel itinerary is for the the Piazza del Campidoglio, designed by Michelangelo. Three of its sides are bordered by the gorgeous structures of Palazzo dei Senatori, and the museums Palazzo dei Conservatori and the Palazzo Nuovo.
