A centre for fine arts within a Horta-designed masterpiece
Talk of the town: Horta had to design his buildings with a height restriction, so that the king's view of the city skyline from the Royal Palace wasn't interrupted.

The Centre for Fine Arts, better known as BOZAR, has played an important part in the city's cultural development since it was built in 1928. Master architect and craftsman Victor Horta was commissioned to design a building that could cater to all forms of art under one roof - a first of its kind.
Featuring three concert halls, an intimate studio, exhibition spaces and lecture rooms on eight levels (it's built on a slope), all accessed from a magnificent central marble hall, the result is a beautiful yet functional building that Horta classed as a high point in his career.

Today, BOZAR supports dance, theatre, cinema, music (it is the home of the National Orchestra of Belgium), literature, architecture and art, as well as a range of other diversions. Check out the website for what's on.
