Whether you choose to cycle on any one of the paved bike paths that are littered around the city, or have something more adventurous in mind, Edmonton is the perfect spot to hop on a bike and explore. The city is known for having some of the best single track mountain bike paths, even though the city is devoid of mountains. To find all these tracks you need to have a little knowledge from the locals or at least do some reading by yourself. Head to the area of Forest Heights where 27 trails await you, challenging you with gnarly rocks and twists and turns. You won’t want to attempt any of the trails here if you are a complete beginner though. For beginners, the apt place for cycling would be Terwillegar Park where hundreds of acres await you, along with a total of 79 trails ranging from beginner to expert. For those who would rather cycle on paved paths while taking in the views, make sure to grab a copy of the River Valley Trail Maps, either online, from the city hall, or at the tourism office. These maps will show which trails are paved, their length, and the best places to explore.
