Berner Munster

The largest pastoral church in Switzerland, Berner Munster or the Cathedral of Bern is an awe-inspiring 15th century construction. With a spire that towers above the brick roofs of the city, it is a stunning example of Gothic architecture. At a staggering height of 100 m, the top of the Cathedral tower can be accessed by a whopping 312 steps and the summit has excellent panoramic views of the capital and the Bernese Oberland region. You can feast your eyes on the pointy tops of turrets, snow-capped peaks, sparkling rivers and verdant meadows.
The depiction of ‘The Last Judgement’ on the gateway of Berner Munster is absolutely splendid and so are its many stained glass windows. The wooden choir stalls and embellished vaults further amplify the visual appeal of the church. The information desk has audio guides and English brochures for visitors.
