If you want to change provinces, why not head over to Woodland Caribou Provincial Park, located in Ontario, bordering Eastern Manitoba. Just a short 2.5 hrs away from Winnipeg, this park offers over 1.2 million acres to explore. It is a park that is known to be one of Ontario’s premier paddling destinations, and if you happen to love canoeing, you have come to the right place. There are over 2,000 well-maintained canoe routes over the series of lakes and rivers that make up the park, and only about 1,000 paddlers who come to enjoy it each season. You have to be an experienced backcountry camper to enjoy this park, as there are no public campsites here, just canoe in sites located throughout. Visitors will want to stop by the park office in Red Lake before heading out for last minute tips, maps and other important information. Other than canoeing, visitors will find themselves swimming on secluded beaches, and fishing in some of the greatest waters of Ontario. The serene nature of the park coupled with its secludedness makes this the perfect relaxing getaway.
